Now you’ve got your hands on your lovely new tablet PC, time to customise it to your needs! 1) Case

Cases are absolutely first on the list of must-have accessories for one very important reason. Because you need to protect your purchase! Tablet PCs are designed to be shiny and slick, which looks wonderful, but means they are prone to being scratched. When you’re on the go, keys, pens and cables in your bag can all damage your tablet. Considering you’ve spent a fair chunk of change on the tablet, a few dollars on a case is a no-brainer!

Some cases can even function as something else. For example, the Moleskine iPad case actually doubles as a notebook. Some cases can be folded back and used as a stand so that you can prop up your tablet for watching movies or TV. You can even find a waterproof case – if you can’t resist taking your new tablet into the bath with you!

2) Stylus

A stylus can really help you navigate your tablet. If you are planning on using drawing or graphics apps, or if you have to sign electronic documents, a stylus will be an inexpensive but indispensible investment.

3) External Keyboard

Undeniably, typing on the touchscreen can be more difficult than using a physical keyboard, especially for long documents or mails.

Lucily, there are keyboard docks and bluetooth solutions available which simply connect to your tablet and make typing just as easy as with a laptop. Be careful when buying that you make sure the dock or bluetooth keyboard is compatible with your particular tablet!

4) Camera Connection

With some tablets, you might need to purchase extra accessories in order to be able to transfer your digital photos. Some tablets have an expandable memory slot or USB slot, but others will require some extra kit. The iPad, for example, needs a special Camera Connection Kit so that you can upload pictures directly from your camera – you can then view, edit and share them using a variety of apps.

5) HDMI Cable

Final entry on our list of essential tablet PC accessories is a HDMI cable. This is ideal for displaying your stored videos, photos and movies and playing them on your HD TV. Again, you need to make sure you check the connections available on your particular tablet PC and choose one that will definitely fit.
